Company Profile:
Distinguished Features is a production company formed to develop and produce feature films and television drama and documentary. The company was formed in 2000 by David Mc Loughlin and Clare Scully, both of whom are highly experienced in and knowledgeable of film production, and the Irish Film industry in particular.

Distinguished Features has recently formed an alliance with Kevin Menton’s Hibernia Films via the creation of a jointly owned holding company, the Arkvision Group. In addition to developing and producing its own projects the combined companies provide production services to other Producers in the form of providing a complete co-production service, the provision of taxed based finance, the creation of production schedules, production & development budgets, & providing general film industry consultancy.

Distinguished Features recently Co-Produced the film adaptation of Spike Milligan’s "Puckoon", starring Elliot Gould, John Lynch & Sir Richard Attenborough. The company’s latest production, "Zulu 9" a digital project financed by the Irish Film Board and RTÉ, recently won an audience award at the Cork International Film Festival 2001.

Distinguished Features has a number of projects currently in development, including "Dead Bodies" which was awarded development funding from the Irish Film Board, & is seeking both financial and creative partners to develop existing & future projects.

David Mc Loughlin has been involved in full time film production since 1995 when he produced Ireland’s first 35mm cinemascope short film. "All Souls’ Day" followed; his first feature film as producer, directed by Alan Gilsenan. He subsequently worked as Trainee Producer on Jim Sheridan’s "The Boxer" & Assistant to the Director on Pat O’Connor’s "Dancing at Lughnasa". He was then appointed Head of Production in Irish Screen, one of Ireland’s leading film production & financing companies. While in Irish Screen he co-produced a number of BBC co-productions including the films "Vicious Circle" & "The American", & the drama serial "Aristocrats". In 1999 he co-produced the feature film "When the Sky Falls" starring Oscar winners Joan Allen and Pete Poselthwaite, based on the life of murdered journalist Veronica Guerin. David was previously the Manager of the Dublin Film Festival, and Administrator of Film Makers Ireland, the producers’ representative organisation, prior to embarking on film production.

Clare Scully was first employed in a film production capacity in 1994 on Mel Gibson’s multi-Oscar winning "Brave Heart". She was then appointed Assistant to Arthur Lappin, one of Ireland’s most successful film producers, in Hell’s Kitchen, the company he owns with Jim Sheridan, arguably Ireland’s leading international film director. While working in Hell’s Kitchen Clare has worked in a senior production capacity on many large feature productions in Ireland such as "Some Mother’s Son", "The Boxer" directed by Jim Sheridan, "Agnes Browne" directed by & starring Anjelica Houston, "On the Edge", & most recently "Borstal Boy". Clare is a graduate in Film Studies from the Dublin Institute of Technology
