Terence Ryan

Terence Ryan has written, directed and produced feature films and television programs. He began his career at the London International Film School His first short feature dramatising the life of the poet Gerard Manley Hopkins was awarded the Finbar Prize for the Best Film at the Cork Film Festival and the Grierson Award.

In 1980 Terence Ryan formed Opix Films. The company produced 120 films and television series over the next ten years . Thirty films made at Opix and directed by Terence Ryan won international awards and his work includes films in the genres of drama, comedy and music. His award winning Social Drama series "We Matter" for Thames Television.

In 1983 Terence set up the Opix Art Gallery to promote and exhibit the work of new talent. It became known as the Living Gallery. He also organised the world's largest Hologram Exhibition at the British Science Museum in London, giving artists from all over the world an opportunity to show their work in the new art form of holography.

His feature film credits for production and direction include:

'GOING HOME' a World War I drama, nominated Best Director and Best Film at the Canadian Gemini Awards and winning best screenplay at the Huston Film Festival.

'HEAVEN ON EARTH' starring R.H.Tompson, awarded Best Film at the Houston Film Festival

The African feature film "HOLD MY HAND I'M DYING" (titled Blind Justice in the USA) starring Patrick Shy, Christopher Casanove and Oliver Reed.

The silent comedy "THE BIG FREEZE" starring Bob Hoskins , Eric Sykes and Spike Milligan.

The World War II romantic adventure "THE BRYLCREEM BOYS" starring Gabriel Byrne, Bill Campbell, Angus McFayden, Jean Butler, Joe McGAnn and John Gordon Sinclair.
